Well the Murphy saga continued for a week or so into August. But never fear the tide has turned by the time I’m writing this!π Brian was hospitalized with dengue for several days. Jared took him into the ER a few times beforehand and they decided to admit him for fluids. He perked up after just a few hours on fluids. The thing with dengue is you have to be careful because your platelet count can severely drop. Brian’s was low so they watched him for a few days to make sure it was improving. Kaylee and the boys came and spent nights here while he was there at Evercare. Jared had another bad cold. Doyle’s and Lonnie’s came into town to help with all the sick folk. One evening we were all together and Layton started running a fever, the next morning it was quite obvious that he had developed strep throat and had a whopping case of tonsillitis and then a week later he had barely recovered from that then he woke up one morning covered in this weird rash we have all been getting then after that he resolved a day or so he delved into a case of the stomach flu. The stomach flu became evident on the way to church one Friday as only the flu can do. Anyways, now the dust has settled and we all seem to be healthy and on the mend.π plus Jared got a plumber to fix all the leaky faucets and then the AC mistri came to fix the air conditioners so now we have a cool house again so things are on the up and up.
Brian’s are busy with language class. Bennett comes every morning now to play. He’s back up and walking on his feet now. They’ve healed very well from the burns he got last month. Him and Layton spend hours farming and building with magna tiles playing with couch cushions. We’ve been having a lot of fun taking them around and showing them places. One Saturday we got dim and ruti for breakfast and then went to Farmgate and traipsed through there. We got so hot we decided a good long rail on the metro would be wonderful to cool off. So we rode to Uttarra North, hopped off and got some cold drinks and icecream and then boarded and came back to Farmgate. Anymore the metro is so packed that I ride in the ladies car with Shania. (The two front cars are women only) Had lunch at Shuktara. Another Saturday Brian and Jared watched the kids at our favorite place place in Jamuna while I showed Kaylee all my favorite stores in Jamuna mall. Sometimes in the evenings Brian comes over and him and Jared hole up in the office and go over paperwork. Kaylee and I visit while the kids rough house.
Layton is a busy beaver. His bike wheels and roller blade wheels scarcely cool off. He is really looking forward to America school. He mess ed Shana one day and read her cat in the hat! Been trying to have him read stories to Shania several times a week. His latest project is building a crane out of Knex. Brian and Nathon have taken an interest in the project and have been helping him out from time to time. Mom isn’t the best engineer when it comes to that. Brian takes Bennett and Layton on scootie rides in the evening. I’m not sure which of the three enjoys it more.π He has been getting sad that we are leaving. Lately he’s been saying “mom is this the last time we will be going to this place?” The day we took Brian’s to Jamuna we let him pick out “American shoes” (tennis shoes) to wear on the way home. He was so tickled. He wore them all that evening and all the next day and any chance he gets since! We made a rule he can only wear them inside until we go home, because one trek on these Dhaka streets would ruin them.
Shania has grown at least 2 inches lately. Her dresses that I just let down the hems on are suddenly almost too short. I didn’t think they were so bad,but one day Layton asked me why I kept putting tshirts on Shania to wear. I said “what do you mean? She always wears dresses?” He said “mom look at her dress it looks like a long shirt.” π She keeps adding more and more words to her vocabulary. The latest is “delicious!” One day she asked me to draw a cat “with whissers.”π I had a good laugh. One meal time recently when I was trying to get her to close her eyes during prayer, she looked me straight in the eyes and did claw hands and whispered “rawwrrrrrrr.”
A few days ago Chris messaged Jared about a gentlemen that was here in Dhaka. Sounded like at one point he had known a several previous missionaries here. He converted to Christianity back in 2011 and a week or so ago his Muslim brothers beat him up. Both arms were fractured and his head had lacerations on it. So Jared got in contact with him and found out which hospital he was at. Him and Brian went and met with him one afternoon. Jared said he was a very interesting fellow to visit with. He’s traveled and knew English quite well. His sister was staying with him. Jared said he is at a government hospital, conditions are less than stellar. However this man was in a big room with eight other men. Separating each bed was a 7 foot wall for a smidge of privacy. No AC so the windows were all open and there were fans. No hospital at home worried obtain magnet status very quickly with these conditions π Jared said he was surprised at how clean it was!
The Khulna and Golpaganj teachers arrived on the 21st. Aleigha Froese from Grandview Manitoba and Christina Yoder from Henderson Tennessee! They had quite the predicament getting here but alls well that ends well.π looking forward to being with them more!
We are busy working on wrapping things up here so Brian’s can carry the torch on. I’m not sure if I will get anything posted next month or not. Maybe after we are home I will post a final post.
